Convert predefined roles to granular permissions in one step
14 days ago
Account admins can now move a user from the broad predefined roles model to fine-grained granular permissions in one step. On the Predefined Roles tab, select one or more non-Admin roles and click Convert to granular permissions — Lytics fills in the equivalent granular permissions, clears the roles it converted, and drops you on the Granular Permissions tab to review before anything is saved. It's the fastest way to tighten an over-permissioned user down to only the access they actually need.
How it works
- The conversion is conservative and never escalates access — a granular permission is selected only when every bit of access it grants was already granted by the roles you converted.
- Anything that can't be expressed exactly as a granular permission is dropped and listed in a warning, so you can decide how to handle it (keep the predefined role, or ask about a custom role) rather than silently losing or over-granting access.
- Nothing is saved until you submit. The button only stages the new selections for review.
Scope
- Admin is excluded — it grants everything and has no granular equivalent, so it's left untouched.
- The button is disabled when you're editing your own account, so users can't change their own access.
See Predefined Roles and Granular Permissions for the full granular catalog and conversion details.
