Data Activation Layer — replaced by Lytics Projects in Contentstack

The Data Activation Layer (DAL) is deprecated. Setting up Lytics now starts with a Lytics project in Contentstack, and the setup guides have moved there with it.

What's changed

• A project is the entry point. Creating one provisions the matching Lytics account, generates a JStag snippet, and opens a default data stream ready to receive events — there's no separate activation step to complete first.
• Connections replace DAL configuration. Link a project to a CMS stack, a Launch project, or a Personalize project to move data between products. The Personalize connection is what makes Lytics audiences available for variant targeting and experiments — the old Sync Audience Definitions job is no longer needed.
• Launch can handle the tag for you. If your site runs on Contentstack Launch, connect the Launch project and skip installing the JavaScript tag by hand.
• Access is scoped per project. Collaborators and roles are assigned on each project — organization membership alone doesn't grant access, and a role on one project doesn't carry over to another.

What you need to do

• Nothing changes in the Lytics app. A project in Contentstack and an account in Lytics are the same thing under two names, so your existing account, streams, and audiences are unaffected.
• Set up new projects in Contentstack. The three DAL setup pages in these docs have been retired in favor of a single overview page that links into the project setup guides.
